I wrote it as a personal letter to my mom because there is so much that makes her so amazing that a few short sentences wouldn’t do her justice… here goes…

    Dear Mom,
I want you to know how grateful I am for all that you have been to me and done for me.

Thank you for being so amazing. You have given me unconditional love, even when I didn’t want it or thought that I didn’t deserve it. I have learned how to love others from watching you. You love without judgement and without prejudice. I remember times when I told you my deepest darkest secrets and thought that you’d hate me for it but you didn’t. You’d sit me down with a cup of tea and just let me talk about whatever it was I needed to get off my chest whether it had to do with friends or boys or life in general. When I thought you’d hate me afterwards for the terrible things I told you, you didn’t. You still gave me one of your great mom hugs and told me you loved me.

You have been there for me in the happy times and sad, in the easy times and rough patches. You always comforted me whenever I need it. Mom, you have been so forgiving of all my faults, issues, and self-centeredness. Even when I did something that should have been unforgivable, you find a way to forgive me anyway. I learned that forgiveness isn’t easy, but necessary.

You have always kept me laughing. It is from your sense of humour that I learned to sacrifice everything — love, friendships, money — for the sake of a good line. You and dad taught me that you don’t need money to be happy. The richest people in the world are the ones who have people in their life that love them. You always knew how to make everything right with your stupid jokes (the same ones that I now tell to the kids I work with), and your quirkiness that I inherited.

You provided me with everything I needed. It may not have been what everyone else had, or what I may have wanted, but you made sure I had what I needed. I had a roof over my head. I had food when I was hungry. I had clothes on my back (they may have not been designer but they were more than what some kids had). But, most of all I always had a friend to talk to and a positive influence in my life.

It is because of your presence and life lessons you taught me as a kid that I know how to live my life, how to treat others and how to make good decisions. I am the woman I am today because of you.

So here’s what it boils down to: I am thankful for you and your presence in my life. I could not be who I am without you to guide me, to teach me, to love me, to make me laugh, and to put me to work. I love you.

    Love always,
    Jen

The level headedness that always seem to find an answer. My mom is like a friend. We can hang out and talk about anything. The fact that she would give up everything in her possession for me if need be. A mother’s love is unbeatable!

There are many things that make my mom special! She has always been there for my sister and I, she gave up a career to be a stay at home mom for us our entire school years. She has kicked the butt of two cancers, and she still has the stamina of someone more than half her age! My mom rocks!
